From the get go, the girls and boys were separated. Girls to the Harrods make up counter, where we tried out different shades of red lipstick before we found our cheek, and hung our nylon stockings over the partition, tempting the men on the other side. It worked. They stopped putting on their ties!
We danced! Rock and roll, Tom Jones, Dusty, the Beetles.
After lunch – vintage prawn cocktails, served by our cinema girl, Kally – we boarded the No 9 bus and headed out to the cinema. Tickets 1/6, Pearl and Dean advertisements before some classics from the 1950’s: Bridge over the River Kwai, Zulu, West side Story. In the interval we enjoyed icecream, popcorn.
To wake us up we played sharades guessing the film, with some imaginative interpretation.
We did NO work whatsoever! That will save for next week. We’re getting to know each other, trusting, laughing, building.
